Common questions
When are sessions offered?
We are committed to being available daily, 6:30am-10pm! The earliest available session is from 6:30am-8:30am; the latest available session is from 8pm-10pm.
How long is each session?
Each session is two hours long. Our sessions are perfectly curated for warming up your muscles and mind to engage with new material in a way that optimizes information retention.
To which sessions does the 15% discount apply?
Monday-Friday, 6:30am-5pm. Since each session is two hours long, the latest session that qualifies for the discount is the 3pm-5pm timeslot. This discount applies to certain wedding dates - please inquire about your particular date.
Are lessons beginner-friendly?
Absolutely. During her Master's in Dance Education program at the University of Northern Colorado, Anna developed a curriculum that takes someone from a non-dancer to a confident and fun mover in a short amount of time.
How will you customize my dance?
Our favorite question! It all starts with your song. During your first session, your instructor will demonstrate several dance styles that will work with it, and you'll choose which style and aesthetic you prefer. Along the way, your instructor will offer options for every move. It is an incredibly collaborative process where you get to build the dance of your dreams! And, if at any point you want to change anything, we absolutely can. This experience is 100% customizable.
What if we want to switch who's leading and following?
That's great! In the dynamic and modern world, partners sometimes want to dance the 'traditionally-opposite' role or switch roles partway through the dance. Anna's Master's of Dance Education thesis focused on this topic. Switch dancing is accessible, fun, and a beautiful representation of a modern relationship, and we love empowering you in your authentic self-expression!
What if we want to have multiple songs in one dance?
We love song medleys! In fact, your instructor can help recommend where to transition from song to song for the best dance experience. Then, we'll either ask your DJ to cut the music for you, or a Magic Wedding Dance-partnered DJ can seamlessly create your custom medley.
What if I have a pre-existing injury or disability?
We wholeheartedly believe that everyone can dance. We have created beautiful dances for people with different physical and mental abilities. In all cases, we work to understand the abilities, and design movements that will be safe and achievable. There are myriads of modifications to every move, and we will partner with you to create what works for your body. These are some of our proudest dances we have ever created!
What are the packages?
Our packages depend on your vision. Whether you want to recreate a specific dance scene from a famous movie, want to learn the basics and have a simple roadmap, or want a full choreography that we dream up specifically for you and your song, we can't wait to design your perfect dance. Please peruse our packages and let us know which one will support your vision best!
Can I combine multiple services in one package?
Absolutely! In fact, it is common for couples to book a package that includes sessions for a First Dance as well as additional sessions for Parent-Child dances or other services. The ultimate package for this combination is the Magic package.
Do I have to pay for everything up front?
Not at all. At the first session, a $1,200 deposit (which covers the Silver Package) will be due. Thereafter, you can pay per-session as the lessons happen, or in-bulk. Please explore our packages here.
Why is the travel fee not included in the package fee?
Some of our couples live out of state, so our travel varies from several miles to cross-country flights. Our travel fees are based on a standard industry calculation.
Where are the sessions held?
As a part of our full-service offering, your instructor will travel to you for the sessions. We'll bring several mirrors and transform your living room into a cozy dance studio for several hours. That way you're in the comfort of your home and no driving is required. We've discovered that if either of the partners feels nervous, being in your own safe space makes something as vulnerable as dancing easier. We are committed to your comfort, so that your confidence increases!
Is it OK that I have pets at home?
Yes, we love furry friends!
How much space do I need for at-home sessions?
We only need a small space while learning the foundations. In fact, we've done successful sessions in a hallway. A larger space is beneficial once we start learning expansive lifts, large dips, and big travelling moves.
Can we meet somewhere outside of our home?
Absolutely! We can meet at a park near you, at a gym or yoga studio you have access to, or rent a dance studio near your home. We partner with dozens of studios and would be happy to book one close to your home.
What should we wear?
While learning the dance, socks and comfy clothes are great. After we learn the dance, we'll have at least one polish sessions. A polish session focuses on the continuous movement, energy, and flow of the dance to have you feel and look breathtaking! At that time, we recommend dancing in your wedding dance shoes. Additionally, we'll use props to imitate wearing a dress or a tight-fitting jacket so you can get used to dancing in formal clothes.
Will you customize my dance to my specific wedding dress?
Yes! One of the most fun things is seeing how we can use the dance to highlight a specific dress. A Strapless versus a V-neck; a mermaid versus an A-Line; a Ball Gown versus a Short. The possibilities are endless and we love them all.
